It is long believe that this pen would have been used by what is known as "middle management" of the public service variety. You can see by the nature of its craftsmanship that its intention is to look valuable and represent wealth and strength, yet it is built of cheap 2nd rate materials so typical of the time.

This pen is very much like my blue pen, except instead of being all blue it has a great little grey rubber hand grip. Historians predict that this grey was used by typical lower class office workers, where the grey represents the bland working environment and the downtrodden classes of the times.

This isn't actually a pen at all, but given my lenghty experience with turn of the century highlighters, I felt it was essential to include this historical piece as an example from the late 20th Century.

This pen is great, because it's not 100% a pen; it’s actually the first of many pen/highlighter hybrids. It is an item of great social importance, as it reflected the belief of the peoples of the 20th & 21st centuries that there is more than people that what meets the eye.

This pen is great because not only is it a nice red colour, it also has this great black rubber bit that you can hold onto. It has been long believed that the black strip running through the centre of the pen reflects the enduring global separation of society in the late 20th century. The greatest section, the red shaft, represents the people of the world. The silver tip represents the rich and powerful, and the black band was considered to represent the political powers ensuring that these social constructs remain in tact, that the lower and upper classes were to never merge.

This is one of the best pens in my collections. It is a phenomenal specimen. Unlike all other items in this collection, this is just a pen.

I love pens & everything about pens. They really help me write stuff down.
